Springbrook to provide utility billing and financial applications

Portland, Oregon – Springbrook Software, Inc., a leading provider of fully-integrated, enterprise software solutions for local government, announces that it has signed contracts with Village of Lyons to replace their existing financial and utility billing software.

Nestled along historic route 66 just 10 miles southeast of Chicago is the Village of Lyons, Illinois. Incorporated on October 13, 1888, the 11,000 residents of the Village enjoy a small town atmosphere as well as the proximity to the many cultural and recreational opportunities the Chicago metropolitan area offers.

After being with their utility billing and financial software provider since the mid 1990s, the Village decided to research other software options in the fall of 2003 as the reporting capabilities of their existing systems were minimal and the software was not GASB 34 compliant. Finance Director Erin Leahy created a two-page outline of the Village’s requirements and then researched the vendors neighboring communities were using. From this information, Ms. Leahy sent Request for Proposals to 10 vendors, 8 of whom responded. After the responses were reviewed by staff and references were checked, 4 vendors were chosen to give demonstrations.

According to Ms. Leahy, all 4 software options were a significant improvement from their current systems, but Springbrook was the top choice for a variety of factors including:

• Excellent reporting and query capabilities
• Ability to produce GASB 34 reports
• User-friendly
• Changes such as altering UB rates or adjusting a salary are very easy to make
• Staff can easily be cross trained
• Ease of obtaining real time information

The relationship between the Village and Springbrook was solidified in January of 2004 when contracts were signed. The Village is now the 13th Springbrook client in Illinois.
