CLIENT PROFILE: North Tahoe Public Utility District, California
North Tahoe, California offers a diverse variety of recreational activities; among the popular choices are golfing, mountain biking, and world class skiing - including the 1960 Winter Olympics site, Squaw Valley. Residents are proud of the scenic beauty that Lake Tahoe offers; the residents who are served by North Tahoe Public Utility District are privileged with a water system that is supplied directly from Lake Tahoe. Known as one of the deepest and largest alpine lakes in North America, Lake Tahoe's water has a purity level of nearly 100%. The water is so pristine that objects beneath seventy-five feet of water may be viewed from the lake's surface. North Tahoe's residents may boast of a public utility district that offers water so pure, it is already naturally distilled.
Located along the California/Nevada border, North Tahoe PUD consists of three sectors: the Sewer and Water Department, the Recreation and Parks Department, and the North Tahoe Community Conference Center. Due to Y2K concerns, the District needed to replace its current software and in 1999 the District found that Springbrook Software would best serve their needs. North Tahoe PUD is currently using Springbrook's Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Bank Reconciliation, Cash Receipts, Clearing House, Fixed Assets, General Ledger, Inventory Control, Payroll, Purchase Orders, and Utility Billing modules.
Larry Marple, North Tahoe PUD's Chief Financial Officer, explains the organization's reason for choosing Springbrook, "The Utility Billing program has been solid and it was the main reason we went with Springbrook." In addition to this praise, Marple states, "I use the General Ledger the most and I feel it has been very stable and reliable [and] I do enjoy the FQRM reporting tools." Marple also expressed the District's satisfaction with Springbrook's support team; he often works with a particular specialist who, "Returns my cry for help in a prompt fashion and is always pleasant and sympathetic."
Along with the helpful support team and dependable modules, Marple finds Springbrook's annual National User Group Conference to be an excellent customer advantage. For years, several of the District's employees have attended the spring conference. Marple has found the conference to be an informative experience where customers can meet and learn from other users. Future products are featured at the conference and Marple finds the current software version courses to be especially educational. Marple reflects, "I can personally say that I have learned a lot about Springbrook's offering from attending the conference. I have met and talked with other users and [I] feel this is in itself a benefit."
