North Central Fire Protection District Celebrates Second Anniversary
Portland, OR – Springbrook Software, a leading provider of fully-integrated, enterprise software
solutions for local government, announces that North Central Fire Protection District, California
celebrated its second anniversary as a Springbrook client on May 21, 2005.
Located in Kerman, California, the District became active on July 31, 1947 and serves an area of
approximately 240 square miles. The District provides fire protection service to the City of Kerman,
the Township of Biola, and the unincorporated areas along the northern and western borders of the
City of Fresno.
After 10 years with their financial software provider, the District began to research other software options in the summer of 2002 as support from their current providor was being discontinued. After receiving demonstrations from five vendors and making a site visit to a Springbrook client, the City of Coalinga, California, Finance Director Toni Jones states that Springbrook was selected based on the following factors:
- Payroll Flexibility – Payroll and benefits account for 90% of the District’s budget; we needed
a software system that was accurate and could streamline the process. Springbrook has been
able to handle the unique payroll situations of the District so that we were able to do away
will the subsidiary ledgers.
- Board Reporting – Springbrook has allowed us to create our board reports with little effort.
- Bank Reconciliation – The District previously did bank reconciliation on an Excel
spreadsheet; the ease of Springbrook’s bank reconciliation program has been a delight.
After working with the software for over two years, Ms. Jones is even more confident in her selection
of Springbrook. She states, “Springbrook’s financial applications are easy to use; I can work in
payroll, jump over to accounts payable and then to the general ledger all at the same time. I am also
confident in the data it produces.” In addition to its applications, Ms. Jones also praises Springbrook’s
support and describes the support staff as knowledgeable, prompt and friendly.
In the past five years there have been dramatic changes in the finance department including offering
direct deposits to employees and streamlining the process of check printing to accounts payable.
Springbrook has helped the District further streamline its processes and, according to Ms Jones,
“Purchasing Springbrook has been one of the best decisions we have made and I would definitely do it
all over again.”
