Springbrook Software proudly celebrated their 20th anniversary in March of 2005. A quintessential story of entrepreneurship, Springbrook’s roots can be traced to 1985 when the City of Newberg - Oregon hired a vendor to write a utility billing software application. Upon implementation of the software, it became clear to the City that there were major problems with the program; a solution was needed quickly as utility bills had not been sent to customers in three months.

Rick Rementeria, Sr. sat on Newberg's city council and because of his programming experience, was asked by the City if he could fix the application. Upon investigation, Rick concluded the software could not be corrected; he then wrote his own program which the City used to successfully generate bills.

The League of Oregon Cities soon heard of Rick's utility billing program through word-of-mouth and asked him to write finance and payroll applications. With the assistance from the finance director at the City of Newberg, Rick wrote the applications; they were soon installed at numerous Oregon sites including the League of Oregon Cities, the City of Turner, the City of La Grande and the City of Warrenton.

On September 1, 1986, Springbrook became a C corporation in the state of Oregon. Springbrook has since grown into a multi-million dollar company employing a staff of over 60. With installations in 27 different states and over 300 clients, Springbrook continues to experience growth annually.

Springbrook would like to recognize and thank the City of Newberg for being the first client; a profile of the City appeared in the March 2005 newsletter. A profile of Springbrook’s first user, Newberg Utility Billing Clerk Judy Peterson, was also included in the newsletter. Appreciation is also sincerely extended to each of Springbrook’s subsequent clients; every client is truly viewed as a partner with Springbrook and each partnership is extremely valued.
